NCMS 8th Grade Class Decked Out For Beach Day

It’s Spirit Week at Nemaha Central Elementary and Middle School. The NCMS cheerleaders decorated the halls with colorful streamers to prepare for Spirit Week which was held on January 30 through February 3. The cheerleaders also chose the categories for dress up days to give students and staff a chance to show school spirit each day.

The Spirit Week went Monday through Friday and the categories were as follows: Monday Pajama Day, Tropical Tuesday, Wacky Wednesday, Thunder Thursday, and finishing it out was Freedom Friday.

The elementary and middle school students went all out this year to get decked out in various Thunder apparel for the Thunder Thursday contest. The cheerleaders picked two or more elementary and middle school students from each age group that were the best dressed in Thunder pride. In transitional kindergarten and kindergarten, the winners were Laney Haug, Von Krause, Clara Roever, and Griffin Hiltgen. In first grade, the winners were Cole Buessing, Judd Jones, and Jaelynn Koch. In second grade, the winners were Kayson Heiman, Grace Haug, and Evie Romney. The highest Spirit holders of third grade consisted of Jack Stallbaumer, Isabelle Bletscher, and Hadlee Burdiek. In fourth grade, the winners were Ellie Burkitt and Sawyer Edelman. The best-dressed fifth graders consisted of Audrey Sudbeck and Brooklyn Korber. Last but not least, the middle school students were Olivia Hermesch, Lexi Lewis, and Macy Holthaus.

“It was super fun and I loved dressing up,” said Isabelle Bletscher.

The middle school classes were challenged to see how many people in their class could dress up each day throughout Spirit Week. The results were as follows:

Monday Pajama Day--6th grade 82%, 7th grade 69%, 8th grade 66%

Tropical Tuesday--6th grade 76%, 7th grade 53%, 8th grade 68%

Wacky Wednesday--6th grade 70%, 7th grade 65%, 8th grade 56%

Thunder Thursday--6th grade 64%, 7th grade 75%, 8th grade 58%

Freedom Friday--6th grade 91%, 7th grade 57%, 8th grade 58%

So the winners of Spirit Week were the 6th graders.

Carson Edelman said, “It was fun to dress up and see people’s creativity.”

The Nemaha Central students always love Spirit Week and it's so much fun to see what outfits they come up with. That’s a wrap on another successful Spirit Week. Way to Go Thunder students!
