The Nemaha Central Middle School girls basketball team faced off against the Holton Wildcats for the second time this season. This game was on Monday, November 28. The energy at this game was phenomenal as the fans in the bleachers were awaiting another great basketball game.  

The 8th grade A-team game started off with the Thunder girls scoring 8 points and Holton was trailing with 5 points. When the second quarter came around, the Thunder girls were able to increase their lead and the quarter ended 14-7.  

Beginning the second half of the game, the Thunder girls were still playing well.  They were able to add a few more baskets to their score while holding Holton to 2 points. The third quarter ended with a score of 20-9. Then came the final quarter of the A-team girls game. The Thunder girls ended with a whopping 36 points, while Holton only managed 11 points.  The Thunder team added another victory to their record.

Starting off the 8th grade B-team, the Thunder girls and Holton were tied 6-6 by the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Thunder girls took the lead by scoring 9 points while Holton only scored 2 to make the score 15-8 at halftime.

The second half was slow offensively for both teams as they were only able to add a couple of points to their score.  The third quarter ended 17-10. In the fourth quarter, the Thunder girls scored a few more baskets and when the buzzer went off, the Thunder girls were victorious, 23-14.

Addy Tangeman said, “We fought the battle and won.”

The 7th grade A-team started off strong offensively and ended the first quarter 9-4.  They played aggressively in the second quarter to increase their lead to 22-7 by halftime.

The Thunder was on their A-game coming out from halftime ready to play the last two quarters. The Thunder girls kept a dominating lead against the Wildcats at the end of the third quarter, 25-9. The Thunder team continued to keep their winning streak alive with a 32-11 victory. 

The 7th grade B-team started the game off with amazing shots and took the lead in the first quarter 9-2. In the second quarter, the B-team girls stayed strong and managed to stay in the lead ending the second quarter 13-8. 

NC put on a show in the third quarter and scored seven more points, ending the quarter with a 20- 12 lead. In the fourth and final quarter, the B-team girls played very well to get another win on the season with a score of  30-14. 

 Alivia Stallbaumer said, “ Our team played pretty well and the other team was very aggressive.”

The Lady Thunder basketball teams have been doing very well so far this season. They hope to keep this winning streak going for the rest of the season.
