NCMS Wrestler Wrestling

The Nemaha Central Middle School wrestling team traveled to Doniphan West on Saturday, October 30. The Thunder team this year consists of 10 eighth graders, and 7 seventh graders. The Thunder is coached by Schuyler Mayberry and Andrew Beck. The managers for Nemaha Central are Colten Corby, Chase Zimmerling, Cormik Hajek, Delayna Ellis, Corabelle Langill, and Tate Edelman. This is the fourth season of wrestling at NCMS, and the second year straight a girl has participated in NCMS wrestling.

NC had 6 eighth graders attending the meet. At 90 pounds, Harry Langill went 2-0; at 100 pounds, Isaac Heinen went 0-3; at 120 pounds, Harper Foster went 0-2; at 141 pounds, Logan Richards went 2-1; at 148 pounds, Caleb Hynek went 2-1; at 180 pounds, Kyler Ganstrom went 5-0. The NC eighth grade team concluded the meet going 11-7 overall as a team.

Harry Langill said, “It was a good meet for all of our first-year wrestlers and everybody else.”

NC had 6 seventh graders attending the meet this weekend. At 90 pounds, Landon Mady went 1-2; at 95 pounds, Braden Macke went 0-3; at 105 pounds, Dason Hill went 1-2; at 110 pounds, Cole Ranieri went 2-1; at 115 pounds, Noah Hilbert went 2-1; at 165 pounds, Will Deters went 0-4. The NC seventh graders concluded the meet going 6-13 overall as a team.

Dason Hill said, “For the first meet of the year the team did very well and most people won their very first match. But there is still room for improvement.”

The NCMS seventh graders are looking to improve their skills and learn new ones as they go. The eighth graders are looking to improve all the skills they learned last year, and to continue to improve. This meet was an amazing learning opportunity for both seventh and eighth graders as they continue their wrestling season.
