The Nemaha Central Middle School girls basketball team went into Holton with a boom on Monday, October 31. Both 7th grade teams have an undefeated record so far so they were ready to win a couple more games. The 8th grade teams have lost a couple of games so far this season so they were ready for wins also.

The NC 8th grade A-team was ready for their game against Holton. Their record being, 4-2 made them even more determined to win. The first quarter went by quickly with good shots and hustling down the court as the Thunder team captured a lead, 12-4. With the Thunder girls getting lots of easy shots in the second quarter, Holton was no problem for them as halftime found them winning 22-7. 

The Thunder girls came out of their huddle after halftime confident and ready to start the second half of the game. The six-minute third quarter went by in a flash as the Thunder pushed their lead to 30-7. It was the last quarter, the girls were tired but ready to finish off the game with a big win. They kept on taking their shots and won the game 39-7.

After the amazing game the NC 8th grade A-team had, the 8th grade B-team wanted a big win too. The Thunder girls shot some amazing shots and defended their goal very well to get a lead in the game 13-2 by the end of the first quarter. With the Thunder girls up by 11 points in the first quarter, they were ready to score some more points in the second quarter. They hustled up and down the court and were ahead 24-4 by halftime. 

In the third quarter, Holton gained a few points on them but the Thunder girls kept up their hard work and were winning 32-11. The girls were ready to end the night and decided to finish strong in the fourth quarter. They took many shots which led them to win the game 44-11.

Kendra Schmitz said, “We worked so hard and came out with the WIN!”

The NC 7th grade A-team worked very hard against Holton. They boxed out very well in the first quarter and were ahead 8-0. They hustled up and down the court in the second quarter to get a bigger lead, 14-2. They finished the first half pumped up and ready for the second half of the game. 

In the third quarter, the Thunder girls got several steals and got the ball in the hoop to pull further ahead with a score of, 33-11. The Thunder girls were ready for the last quarter to add another win to their undefeated record. They finished strong in the fourth quarter to get the win 43-11.

Bailey Snyder said, “We came out with good mindsets, played great, and won the game.”

The NC 7th grade B-team played a great first quarter and found themselves up 14-0. The Thunder girls continued to work hard but only managed a basket in the second quarter to make the score 16-3.

The Thunder girls kept shooting in the third quarter and were able to increase their lead ending the quarter up 24-7. Holton gained some points on them in the fourth quarter, but the girls ended up winning the game 28-14.

The girls worked really hard against the Holton Wildcats. They put their hearts into the game and all four teams came out with a win.
