The Nemaha Central eighth grade traveled to Topeka to attend a performance by The Topeka Symphony Orchestra on Tuesday, October 18. The students were excited to attend because they had never been to an orchestra performance before. Orchestral music includes a wide range of categories like classical and romantic styles of music. The orchestra was led by Kyle Wiley Picket, the conductor, who used his baton to guide the performance. An orchestra is a group that plays with instruments that are woodwinds, brass, and percussion.
The Symphony performed a variety of songs from movies like “Indiana Jones: Raiders March,” “Jurassic Park,” and “Also Sprach Zarathustra.” They also played songs like “Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, Movement” and “Ride of the Valkyries.”
Makenzie Howard said, “It was interesting watching the musicians playing in sync.”
After the symphony, the students ate a refreshing lunch at Golden Corral. Golden Corral is an all-you-can-eat buffet that the students really enjoyed. The students really enjoyed the trip and they recommend it to other students in the future.
Kaiden Sura said, “It was nice spending time with all my friends and getting to eat.”
