The Nemaha Central Middle School volleyball team hosted Holton on Monday, September 26. Holton is a tough team to beat traditionally so, the girls knew that they had some competition. They listened to Coach Nikki Honeyman’s playlist to get excited and ready to play.
The Thunder 8th grade A-team had an amazing start to the first set. They gave it their all but fell short 24-26. During the second set, the girls worked as a team and won 25-15. The third set was a really close game but the girls fell short again in a close match, 14-16.
The 8th grade B-team from NC had a big desire to win in the first set. They ended up winning the first set 25-10. In the second set, they lost momentum and lost 20-25. The third set was a hard-fought set between the two teams but they ended up losing with a score of 14-16.
Emma Hermesch said, “The games were very close, and we worked hard as a team.”
The Thunder 7th grade A-team had an amazing match keeping their undefeated record going. The seventh graders did an amazing job working as a team and calling the ball. In the first set, the girls played hard but lost 23-25. Some amazing passes, sets, and hits in the second set helped aid in the win with a score of 25-14. In the third set, they kept rolling to win the set 15-9. The Thunder kept their undefeated record going.
Bailey Snyder said, “The first set we didn’t play the greatest but the second set we stepped it up, played better, and got a win for the Thunder.”
The NC 7th grade B-team did an excellent job in the first set. They wanted to win big, and they did just that. The first set score was 25-19. The second set was a little bit closer, but they pulled it out and won 25-21. They played a third set for fun and won again 15-10.
The NC Thunder volleyball team had a very competitive night with two of the teams winning and two teams playing hard but losing close matches. Good job Lady Thunder.
