Seventh-grade A-team in a huddle

The Nemaha Central Middle School volleyball team took a trip over to Hiawatha on Thursday, September 22 ready to get some wins. When the Thunder girls stepped on the court they were ready for success and to come home with all the wins. 

The eighth-grade A-team was pumped and ready to win. Going into this game with a record overall of 8-5, the girls were ready to extend their record to 9-5. Starting off with the first set, the Thunder girls fought hard but fell short losing 23-25. Coming out knowing they needed to play hard, the girls, unfortunately, lost momentum losing a tough set 20-25. Willing to put up a hard fight in the third set, the girls finally pulled out a tough win 15-12. 

Next up, was the eighth-grade B-team. After watching the A-team play, they knew they needed to get the job done. The NC Thunder girls stepped on the court with confidence to pull out the win in the first set, 25-10. Keeping their momentum up, the girls fought a hard second set, but unfortunately fell to the Red Hawks 23-25. Finishing with the third set, the girls pulled out the win 15-11. Even after losing the second set, the girls were victorious over the Red Hawks. 

Addison Tangeman said, “We played really tough, fighting a hard battle.”

Meanwhile, on the other side of the building, the seventh-grade A-team was up first and they were ready to add another win to their undefeated record. They were ready to destroy the Red Hawks and they certainly did, winning the first set 25-17. Keeping the momentum up they pulled out a win in the second set 25-18. Moving on to their last set of the night, the Thunder started off slow and couldn’t pull out the win, falling short 3-15. 

Nola Sudbeck said, “The game was really fun and exciting, hearing all the fans cheering was nice.” 

Up next, the seventh-grade B-team was ready to get a win under their belts. The Thunder girls started things off slow in the first set but picked it up pulling out a tough 25-22 win. In the second set, the girls played phenomenally earning a 25-14 win. In the third set, the Thunder girls kept it rolling taking the win in a close battle 18-16. 

Overall,  the Thunder teams played well coming away with 3 wins for the night. The NC girls are ready to keep pushing until the end of the season, to reach their goal.
