The Nemaha Central Cross Country team traveled to Washington County for the second time of the season on Monday, September 26. Washington was supposed to host the meet on September 19, but the meet was postponed due to the heat. The team had already competed at Washington earlier in the season, so they had the course down. The runners from NC were Aiden Streeter, Brady Koch, Colten Corby, Carson Edelman, Harry Langill, Gus Rusche, and Rachel Nordhus. Overall, there were 7 teams that attended the meet. There were 24 boys at the meet and 13 girls.
For the eighth-grade boys’ division, Brady Koch was the first finisher from NC and he placed 3rd overall with a time of 12:28. A few places behind Brady, Harry Langill placed 7th with a time of 13:12. Colten Corby was next to cross the finish line, placing 8th with a time of 13:33, then Carson Edelman was next for NC placing 16th with a time of 14:43, followed by Gus Rusche who placed 19th with a time of 15:32, and Aiden Streeter who placed 22nd with a time of 18:40.
For the eighth-grade girls’ division, Rachel Nordhus was the only runner from NC. She finished 6th and had a time of 16:07.
“ We did really well and I look forward to the next meet,” said Aiden Streeter.
The cross country team did very well despite the tough competition and warm weather. Cross Country is over halfway through the season, but the runners still have enough time to improve their times.
