The Nemaha Central Middle School volleyball teams played their rivals, the Sabetha Bluejays on Monday, September 19. The seventh grade B-team picked up an extra game against Kickapoo since they have so many girls on the seventh grade team. The Thunder was ready to pick up some wins against their rivals.
The eighth grade A-team battled the Bluejays in the first set of the match but lost 10-25. They picked up the pace and won the second set, 25-13. The winds of victory were on their backs when they won the third set, 15-9. The eighth grade A-team claimed victory against the Sabetha Bluejays.
The eighth grade B-team started with a close win in their first set 25-21. Despite their hard efforts, they fell behind in their second set and lost 17-25. Everything went downhill from there when they lost the third set, 4-15. The Thunder team tried hard, but they weren’t able to pull off another victory and lost the match.
“We really didn’t talk and move our feet,” said Hailey Meyer.
The seventh grade A-team had to face off against the Sabetha Bluejays, while the seventh grade B-team faced off against both the Bluejays and Kickapoo. The games were intense and exciting, many people were shouting and cheering for their teams to win. Both seventh grade teams easily handled their opponents with their hard work and determination.
The seventh grade A-team took on the Sabetha Bluejays in the first set, winning 25-11. In the next set, they dominated again winning 25-10. They crushed their opponents with the finishing third set and claimed victory against the Bluejays with a set win 15-10.
The seventh grade B-team started off on the right foot, playing their best and winning their first set, scoring 25-11. The B-team swept the Bluejays off their feet, winning their second set 25-11. The B-team tried their hardest on the third set, but they lost 8-15. After standing their ground, the seventh grade B-team won against their rivals, the Sabetha Bluejays.
The seventh grade B-team also played against Kickapoo scoring 25-10 in their first set. The B-team tried their best but lost in their second set, 24-26. Finally, the B-team settled the score with a great effort and won the third set 15-7. The B-team claimed victories over both Sabetha and Kickapoo on the evening.
“It was difficult at first but we pushed through and got some wins,” said Kyleah Bstandig.
Both eighth and seventh grade teams played great on the court, showing their rivals what NC volleyball is all about. The end of the season is approaching quickly and the Thunder teams hope to rack up some more wins.
