First Place Winners

Nemaha Central Elementary and Middle school had the annual math contest on Friday, April 29. Students from grades third through eighth participated by being dispersed into classrooms to take the tests. The students all took a number sense test, and geometry test, and then got to combine with students in their grade to take a mathletics problem-solving test. All the math tests were on a time limit of twenty minutes. After all tests were complete, all students in the classroom were broken up into groups to work on a stem project where students were challenged to stack as many toothpicks as they could on top of a water bottle. The stem project was on a time limit of 15 minutes. The following are the winners of the contest:

“It was really fun to win awards for your skills and get to work as a team, all in all, it was really fun,” said Maggie Sudbeck.

Lastly, the STEM project had a group of winners in each classroom and their creations were shown at the assembly in a slideshow.  NCEMS would like to thank Mrs. Karla Kramer for organizing the event.  Also, a shout out to the following businesses, Seneca Wholesale, 36 Alleys, Freddy’s Pizza Palace, Seneca Theater, Sweet Peas, Sonic, McDonald's, and Seneca Variety, who donated prizes for the contest.
