Nemaha Central Elementary and Middle School held its third pep rally of the year on Thursday, January 27, 2022. The coaches of the winter sports that had finished their seasons were able to give a recap of how well the athletes did, and the boys' basketball team members were introduced.
The pep rally started off with a cheer from the NC cheerleaders. Then the wrestling team was called down for a recap of their season. Mark Mayberry, one of the wrestling coaches, did a small activity to show the audience how it feels to win a wrestling match. The athletes then received their medals from their wrestling tournament.
The girls' basketball team was then called down for a recap of their season. Medals were distributed to the seventh grade girls for their undefeated season. Once the medals were done being distributed, the boys' basketball team came down. The coaches gave the audience an update on how well the boys are doing in their season.
“It was great to see all the kids' faces and to hear them cheer!” Jayden Seitz said.
Once all the sports were done being wrapped up, the cheerleaders announced all the players for a game called “Knock-out”. Ten people played “Knock-out” and Jessie Helm, a teacher at NC, won the game.
Avery Lueger said, “I thought it was really good, and the game of knockout was really fun to watch!”
The competition for the NCEMS “Spirit Stick” was led by the cheerleaders and judged by Jessie Helm and Todd Krause. The winner of the “Spirit Stick” was the first-grade class.
Overall the students and staff all had a good time and ended the day with one last cheer and everyone left smiling.
