The first concert for Nemaha Elementary and Middle School was a winter concert with 4 different grade levels performing. The opening was performed by the 5th-grade band who performed a variety of different music, followed by the 6th grade, and then finally a combination of the 7th and 8th-grade classes to make one band group.
The 5th-grade band was the first to perform and they did a variety of songs consisting of, “Listen To Our Sections,” “Lightly Row,” “A Mozart Melody,” “Aura Lee,” and finally to end it they played “Jingle Bells.”
The next part of the concert was played by the 6th-grade band. This band played a selection of Christmas songs to help the crowd get into a festive spirit for the holidays, followed by a few other songs to show off their skills. The songs played were “Jingle Bells,” “Up On the Housetop,” “Jolly Old St. Nick,” ''Pirates of the Caribbean: The Medallion Call,” “Rock this Band,” and finally the song “Donut Factory,” to send it off.
Next up and the last group to perform were the 7th and 8th-grade band. This group played a few songs to show off the skills learned and entertain the audience. While they only played three songs, they were good songs to lighten the mood around this time of the year. The songs played were ”Pirates of the Barbary Coast,” followed by “Pride of the Band Brigade,” and finally a Christmas song to end it all off, “A Carol Countdown.”
Karla Deters said, “I thought the middle school was really good and I thought the whole thing was really cool.”
Savanah Rogers says, “I was really nervous, but in the end, it turned out fine.”
