The Thunder took on the Royal Valley Panthers on Monday, September 20 on their home court. The night was very successful and every team came out with a win under their belts.

The Thunder eighth grade A-team started the night off strong by winning the first set 25-11. They kept the momentum going and won the second with a closer score of 25-20. After winning the A-team game, the Thunder team had a lot of confidence going into the B-team game.

“It was nice to have support from our family and friends. We talked and played hard to achieve our goal!” said Jolie Jones.

The Thunder B-team started off just as strong as the A-team winning the first set 25-13. They were determined to win and they did just that by a 10 point margin in the second set, 25-15. The coaches decided to play an extra set, and the Thunder won again with a score of 15-10.

On the other side of the gym, the seventh-grade A-team was fighting a tough opponent. The Thunder team lost the first set 21-25. They picked themselves up and won the second set 25-17. The Thunder pulled through in the third set to get the victory 15-10.

“I thought we started off a little slow in the first match, but then we came back with energy to pull out the game. I was really proud of my team for sticking it out!” said Alex Burkitt.

The confidence from the first game carried to the seventh-grade B-team match. The B-team gained the first set in their favor winning 25-11. The Thunder didn’t back down and pulled away with another win, 25-18.

The Thunder ended the night with four wins and a lot more confidence. The NC girls finally achieved the clean sweep that they had been waiting on.
