The Nemaha Central Middle School’s cross country runners traveled to Washington County to run a 2-mile course on Thursday, September 9. There were 5 girl runners at the meet including Rachel Nordhus of NC, and 19 boy runners including Bob Langill, Colten Corby, and Gus Rusche. Other teams participating were Washington County, Blue Valley, Pike Valley, Solomon, Valley Heights, and Linn.
Among the seventh graders, there were 11 boy runners and 3 girl runners. For the boys, Colten Corby came in fifth place with a time of 14:33 and Gus Rusche came in fifteenth with a time of 17:13. The girls had Rachel Norhdus who came in first with a time of 17:21. Solomon also had 3 athletes from the sixth grade competing.
There were 5 eighth-grade boys competing and Bob Langill came in first place with a time of 13:15. Our school had no eighth-grade girls competing.
“It was a much harder course, but we still managed to have good placings,” said Bob Langill.
Overall, the runners did very well despite the more challenging course. Congratulations and good job crossing the finish line. Keep up the good work, cross country!
