The Nemaha Central Middle School volleyball team again hit the road to match up with the Panthers from Royal Valley on Monday, September 21. The Thunder teams were hoping to pick up some wins on the road.
The eighth grade A-team cruised through the first game of the match defeating the Panthers 25-9. The second game was a little bit closer, but the Thunder girls came out on top 25-18. The Thunder team swept the Panthers in the match by finishing the third game with a 15-6 victory.
The eighth-grade B-team was also successful in picking up a win in their match against the Panthers. The Thunder came out ready to play and won the first game. They dropped the second game to the Panthers but bounced back in the third game to get the match win.
“The match was fairly easy even though it took us 3 games, we still got the win,” said Sabina De Buen.
The seventh grade A-team went into the match against the Panthers looking for their first win. The Thunder girls played well in their first game and came out on top 25-15. In the second game, the Panthers played better, but the Thunder girls were able to stay aggressive to get the victory 25-21. The girls were excited to pick up their first match win of the season.
"We were so excited to get our first A-team win of the season," said Kailey Mady.
The seventh grade B-team was hoping to get a win in their match so that the Thunder could have a clean sweep. They started off the match losing their first game 18-25. The Thunder girls bounced back in their second game to win 25-21. The third game would decide the outcome of the match. It was a close game down to the end, but the Panthers were able to defeat the Thunder 11-15.
The girls from NC were able to pick up 3 out of 4 match wins on the road against Royal Valley. As the end of the season approaches, the Thunder teams hope to step up their game to prepare for the league tournaments.
