NCMS Travels to Washington to Compete

The Nemaha Central Middle School cross country team traveled to Washington for their third meet of the season on Thursday, September 21.  The runners were pretty seasoned by this point as they were over halfway through the season. The other teams participating at Washington were: Valley Heights, Washington County, Pike Valley, and Hanover.

The meet started like usual with all the teams walking the course and stretching. All the runners ran a 2 mile race with the 7th and 8th grade mixed together. The course was very hilly and probably the hardest the Thunder team had faced so far. For the boys, eighth grader Lane Mosteller placed 3rd with a time of 13:07, eighth grader Kaden Peterson placed 5th with a time of 13:28, and seventh grader Bob Langill placed 13th with a time of 15:01. On the girls side of things, both participants were 8th graders and Maddy Mosteller placed 3rd with a time of 14:46 and Presley Lutz placed 4th with a time of 17:36.

Bob Langill said, “It was the toughest meet so far with a lot of hills but the team fought through it.”

Overall all the runners had another great meet and they look forward to the rest of their season.
