The Nemaha Central Middle School football team kicked off their season on their home field on Thursday, September 3. The team dominated the Perry-Lecompton Kaws 62-0.
The 2020 Thunder team is made up of 5 eighth graders and 11 seventh graders. The managers for this year's team are Kason Saenz and Logan Kraisinger and the coaches are Hadden Hiltgen, Schuyler Mayberry, and Michael Ohlsen.
In the first quarter, Nemaha Central’s offense was on fire as they went up 24-0 against the Kaws. The second quarter was still all Nemaha Central as they added 12 more points to the score taking a 36-0 lead into halftime.
In the third quarter, the Thunder team was leaving the Kaws in the dust at 48-0 with a couple more touchdowns. The Thunder stormed on in the final quarter, beating the Kaws 62-0. It was an amazing first game for the Thunder! Thunder fans hope it continues to go this well during the season. GO THUNDER!
“We played our hardest and did well for our first game of the year, but there are always places where we need to improve. I’m proud of our effort in getting the win,” said Kaden Peterson.
“Our team played really well. The offense was good, the defense was good, and the line was great. I thought we played pretty well for our first game,” said Carter Hajek.
