The Nemaha Central preschool classes hosted the annual Lyrics and Literacy event for their families and friends on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. During this event, the children showcased what they had learned and performed a selection of songs. After their performance in the gym, they took their parents and friends on a tour of their classrooms.
The evening was set up for each preschool teacher to have 30 minutes to showcase their class. The night began with a performance by Mrs. Melinda Jones’ classes, followed by Mrs. Shelly Schmelzle’s class, and ended with Mrs. Carla Hajek’s classes.
The songs that all classes sang included “Spread a Little Sunshine,” “Stand Up Sit Down,” “It’s A Beautiful Day,” “If You’re A Kid Dance Around,” and “Fire & Ice Freeze Dance.” Additionally, the students demonstrated splitting words apart to make two separate words, identifying their vowels, blending words, and explaining the rules of their classrooms.
Collins Holthaus said, "I liked to dance to ‘If You're A Kid,’ that's so much fun!"
"My favorite part was that my grandmas and grandpas got to come see me sing and dance!" said Brecken Steinlage.
