Valentine

The Nemaha Central Elementary kindergarten through fifth grade had their annual Valentine’s parties on Friday, February 14. Preschool students had their Valentine’s parties on Tuesday, February 25, after it had been postponed because of the weather.

A few parents from each class or the teacher created the games for the students. Some of the games played at the parties were Bingo, bean bag toss on a heart target, who can stack the most hearts with tweezers, minute-to-win-it games, Don’t Eat Pete, a craft and candy heart relay game, and also heart tic tac toe. A snack and drink were also provided for all the elementary students.

“My favorite part was receiving candy, but my all-time favorite candy to receive was sour skittles,” said Henry Baker.

“My favorite part was when we played the human tic tac toe,” said Kaleah Sanders.

Mrs. Nikki Honeyman organized Val-O-Grams for elementary and middle school students. Val-O-Grams are when students buy a bag of chips that are one dollar, or a Hershey's bar, which is two dollars, and send it to another person. Many Val-O-Grams were sent out this year and some of the profits from the event will go to Addie Voelker (Mr. Hilgten’s niece). The rest of the profits will be used for student activities.

The students had a great time and look forward to next year. Thanks to all who helped make this Valentine's Day a hit for the students.
