Nemaha Central’s Middle School Scholars’ Bowl team traveled to St. Marys on Thursday, February 20, 2025, to continue its successful season. This was the third meet of the season and NC was ready to compete against Silver Lake, Holton, and St. Marys.
Two teams represented NC in seventh grade. Team A went 2-2, and team B also went 2-2, with very close scores. The 7A team got fourth place at the meet, while 7B did very well and got second place. Overall, both seventh-grade teams were relatively successful.
“I was impressed by our winning score of 80 points!” said Korbin Schmelzle
Unfortunately, one of the eighth-grade teams did not have the same luck. Team A went 0-5, though most scores were very close, losing by only one question. Team B was very successful, going 3-2, winning by one or two questions. The 8A team got sixth place at the meet, while 8B got third place respectively. Though the results varied from team to team, both learned a lot and will continue to try their best.
“We gained more knowledge from this experience,” said Kendrick Maley.
Although not everyone won this time, they will apply the skills they learned to improve for their next meet.
