Eighth graders at NC on Spirit Week

The Nemaha Central Elementary and Middle School students took part in Spirit Week from January 31 through February 6. The NCEMS cheerleaders decorated the school with streamers, balloons, and signs to get everyone in the Thunder spirit. The cheerleaders were also in charge of picking the themes for each day.

The themes for the week were: Dress Like the First Letter of Your First Name, Dress Like a Parent Day, Celebrity Day, Wacky Wednesday, and Thunder Thursday. The students that were dressed up in each class were calculated into a percentage and the class with the highest percentage would win.

“Dress as a celebrity was my favorite day because it was fun,” said Judd Jones.

The percentage results of students dressed up were calculated for each day. The percentages for Dress Like the First Letter in Your Name were sixth grade at 48%, seventh grade at 33%, and eighth grade at 36%. For Dress Like a Parent Day, the percentages were sixth grade at 48%, seventh grade at 57%, and eighth grade at 64%. For Celebrity Day, the percentages were sixth grade at 48%, seventh grade at 40%, and eighth grade at 42%. For Wacky Wednesday the percentages were sixth grade at 57%, seventh grade at 62%, and eighth grade at 48%. For Thunder Thursday the percentages were sixth grade at 36%, seventh grade at 17%, and eighth grade at 42%.

The winners of Spirit Week were the sixth graders with an average of 47%, but the eighth graders were a close second with an average of 46%, and lastly, the seventh grade had an average of 42%.

Spirit Week was a super exciting and fun time for the students and staff at Nemaha Central Elementary and Middle School. The students really looked forward to dressing up and showing their NC spirit.
