On Thursday, January 30, the Nemaha Central Elementary School held a kindergarten through second grade Family Fitness Fun Night at the school gym. It was held by the Physical Education teacher Cory Bass.
During the event, the students and their parents participated in multiple activities including jump roping, juggling, cup stacking, rock wall climbing, and hula metrics. During the rock wall, the children had to get from the side that they were on to the middle without their feet going above the red line and without falling off. During the juggling, the participants had to juggle two or three balls until it was time to switch stations. In the jump roping station, the participants got to partner jump rope with their parents. In the cup stacking station, the children had to stack their cups and make it back into a little tower of cups as fast as they could. Finally, in hula metrics, you had to do some plyometric workouts but with a hula hoop.
“My favorite part was the partner jump roping,” said Stella Hammes.
At the end of the night, the students and their parents had a wonderful time doing the activities and workouts that were planned.
