NCMS Thunder Team Faces the Royal Valley Panthers

The Nemaha Central Middle School boys Thunder basketball team played the Royal Valley Panthers in their last home game on Monday, February 17. The A-teams had already played Royal Valley, but the B-teams did not due to the rescheduling of games.

First up was the eighth grade A-team. The Thunder team started off strong scoring 11 points and not letting the Panthers score a single point. In the second quarter, the Thunder team scored another 13 points bringing their score up to 24 and only let the Panthers score 2 points. 

After halftime, the Thunder team had scored another 13 points and Royal Valley scored 7 points. In the last quarter, the Thunder scored 9 points and the Panthers scored 3 points. The Thunder team had another stunning win with a score of 46-12.

“I was happy to see our team play so well together,” said Reid McKee.

Next up was the eighth grade B-team. NC started the game off well scoring 10 points and only letting the Panthers score 2. The Thunder team did just as good in the second quarter as they did in the first. They had scored 15 points and only let Royal Valley score 6.

The Thunder team added another 8 points to their score and Royal Valley scored 6 points in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Thunder team scored 13 more points and the Panthers only scored 4 points. In the end, the score was 46-18, another win for the Thunder.

The next game was the seventh grade A-team. The Thunder team started the game off well scoring 12 points and not letting the Panthers score a single point. In the second quarter, the Thunder team struggled to keep their offense going as they only scored 6 points and Royal Valley scored 12 points. The Thunder team was leading at halftime 18-12.

The Thunder team had scored 9 points and the Panthers scored 7 points in the third quarter. In the final quarter, the Thunder scored 11 points and Royal Valley scored 8 points. The final score was 38-27, another win for the Thunder.

“It was a good game but I think we could have played a little better,” said Luis Lambrecht.

The final game was the seventh grade B-team. In the first quarter, the Thunder team scored 5 points and didn’t let Royal Valley score a point. The second quarter was as good as the first. The Thunder team scored 11 points and their defense stopped the Panthers from scoring a single point.

In the next quarter, the Thunder team scored 2 points and the Panthers scored 11. The Thunder team scored 8 points and Royal Valley scored 7 points in the final quarter. The final score was 26-18, for the Thunder victory.

All of the Thunder teams had played well and had come out on top. The Thunder boys were all very happy to finish their last home games with wins.
