The Nemaha Central kindergarten through fifth graders kicked off their annual Jump Rope for Heart event on Friday, January 24. It was held in the Nemaha Central Elementary and Middle School gymnasium.
Jump Rope for Heart is an event where students raise money for the American Heart Association. The students did an awesome job collecting money for this great cause. This is the third year in a row that the students have fundraised over $10,000.
The students in first and second grade started the morning off by rotating to different stations. Each one had a fun activity that kept them busy. Jump roping, rock climbing, walking laps, eating apples, and of course more jump roping. They did great keeping up all day. After those classes finished their rotation, the third through fifth graders started their session of rotations. The rotations were the same except they added a dance video as one of the activities.
Eli Bellew said, “I had fun climbing on the rock wall and hanging out with friends.”
This year the students raised an impressive amount, $10,227.75. The highest amount raised by one student this year was $881.37 by Rylee Howard, a first grader.
Rylee Howard said, “I felt really happy raising a lot of money.”
The students had a blast getting to jump rope and do other fitness activities at school as a reward for raising money for such a great cause.
