The sixth-grade students headed to the slopes in Weston, Missouri on Friday, February 14 for their first field trip as middle school students. The field trip was held at the Snow Creek Skiing Resort where students received lessons and skied the day away.
When the bus arrived at Snow Creek on that cold morning, students were greeted by staff at the resort. The staff went over rules and showed students how to attach their wickets and tickets to their jackets. Next, they had to get their boots and skis ready for the day.
Once everybody had gotten their boots and skis fitted, they went out, split into groups and then began their lessons. They started off learning how to go straight, turn, and stop, which are necessary skills for navigating down the hill. After practicing those skills for awhile, the instructors told them it was time to go down the bunny hills.
”It was an awesome first time!” Jayden Seitz said.
After all the students got the hang of it, they started to go on their own with the lessons getting more difficult every time. After the final test to see if they passed, they got to go down whichever hills they were ready for. Once it was time for them to leave, they loaded the bus and headed home after a long, exhausting day.
“After skiing for the whole day, I was sweating so much, but I had so much fun!” Kadance Henry said.
