The Nemaha Central Middle School basketball girls traveled to Royal Valley on Monday, December 2, 2024. As the season winds down, the girls hoped to get a few more wins on the road.

The eighth grade A-team played the first game of the night. NC started the first quarter in the lead with 10 points while Royal Valley was held scoreless. In the second quarter, Royal Valley started to score and managed to score 8 points. The Thunder still took a 14-8 lead into halftime.

The third quarter was slow for Royal Valley as they only managed to score 1 point while NC scored 10. The fourth quarter was low scoring for both teams but the Thunder came out on top with a score of 28-9.

“We played great and in the end, we pulled out a win,” said Karla Deters.

The next game played was the eighth grade B-team. In the first quarter, NC scored 7 points while Royal Valley scored 3. The second quarter was a slow one for the Thunder and they were held scoreless. At the end of the first half Royal Valley was ahead with a score of 7-8. 

The second half started slow for NC and Royal Valley. Royal Valley scored 3 points while NC scored 2 in the third quarter. With one quarter left, the Thunder was behind 9-11. NC had a great fourth quarter scoring 11 points and holding the Panthers to win the game, 20-15.

The next game was the seventh grade A-team. After the first quarter, Royal Valley was in the lead with 9 points while NC had 6 points. Royal Valley had a great second quarter to increase their lead and the halftime score was 8-20. 

During the third quarter, the Thunder got a couple more points, but Royal Valley scored 8 on them. The score at the end of the third quarter was 10-28. The Thunder had a little more offense in the fourth quarter but lost with a final score of 16-33.

The last team to play was the seventh grade B-team. The first quarter started slow for both teams and they were tied 2-2 by the end. The Thunder team outscored the Panthers in the second quarter to take the lead with a score of 6-4. 

At the beginning of the second half, neither team scored any points in the third quarter. NC picked it up in the fourth quarter to snatch another win with a score of 12-6.

Nikki Lambrecht said, “We played well and won most of the games.”
