The Nemaha Central Middle School boys traveled to Rossville for a wrestling tournament on Saturday, November 23, 2024. The teams that participated in the tournament were Nemaha Central, Jeff West, Royal Valley, Rossville, Silver Lake, St. Marys, Rock Creek, Sabatha, and Wamego.

The seventh grade team had some highs and lows in the tournament. In the 85-pound weight class, Rykeir Feldkamp was 2-1 and placed third; in the 96-pound class Evan Bletsher was 0-2; in the 141-pound class, Noah Keim was 0-2 and placed fifth; and in the 150-pound class, Bentin Deters was 1-2 and placed third.

The eighth grade did amazing in the tournament with everyone placing. In the 80-pound weight class, Tyson Beebe-Dishong was 2-2 and placed fifth; in the 126-pound weight class, Jonathan Gordon was 2-1 and placed third; in the 131-pound weight class, Elvis Pop Cucul was 1-2 and placed fourth; in the 134-pound weight class, Mason Clary was 1-2 and placed fourth; in the 141-pound weight class, Tate Edelman was 1-1 and placed second; and in the 215-pound weight class, Kollin Wagner was 1-2 and placed fourth.

Mason Clary said, “It was exhausting but we all did good.”

Although NC lost some matches, overall, it was a very productive day for the wrestlers. They are working very hard and hope to do well at the Big East Wrestling Tournament.
