The Nemaha Central kindergarten through fourth grade hosted a Lyrics and Literacy night on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. Music teacher, Mrs. Chelsey Haverkamp organized this event. Family and friends were invited to see the performance, one grade level at a time. After the performance in the gym, all were invited to go to the classrooms. Students could show their friends and families some of their projects and work over the last few months.
The kindergarten class performed first. They sang “I Am a Pizza,” “Turkey Tango,” “A Smile Goes a Long, Long Way,” and the last one, “I Love You,” which they dedicated to their loved ones.
“The Owl and the Pumpkin,” “Halloween is a Very Unusual Night,” and “October,” were the three songs that the first grade performed for their audience.
Next, it was the second grade’s turn to sing. They sang “Poor Little Bug,” “Addams Family,” “Green Bean Casserole,” and “Count On Me.”
Kaiden Hiltibrand said, “ I think it went well. One of my favorite songs was, ‘Count On Me!’ ”
The third grade performed a musical for young voices titled Pandamonium which featured five songs: “Special Delivery,” “Pandamonium,” “Everything is Wrong,” “Upside Down,” and the last song, “Hope is the Song We Share.”
The last class to perform was fourth grade. They did a musical revue featuring songs from the movies of today. The songs featured were: “Lights! Camera! Action!” “Spongebob Squarepants,” “Hot Chocolate,” “The Candy Man,” and the last song was “Best Years Of Our Lives.”
Ainsley Dalinghaus stated, “Lyrics and Literacy night was good. I had fun!”
Overall the students did an amazing job performing. They also liked showing their family and friends their classroom and school projects.
