The Eighth Grade Thunder Team

The Nemaha Central Middle School girls basketball team played against the Jeff West Tigers on Thursday, November 14, 2024. Because of an issue, the game was held at home, though it was supposed to be away.

The NC girls had a rough start to the first quarter and found themselves trailing 1-23 by the end of the quarter. The second quarter started, and the girls played a little more aggressively, which helped them add a few points to their score.  The halftime score was 9-39 with NC behind.

The second half was similar to the first half and the girls were unable to close the scoring gap. The third quarter ended with a score of 18-54. In the final quarter, NC was unable to score and they lost 18-66.

The Thunder girls set a goal to come back in the second half. However, the third quarter was tough and it ended with the Thunder still behind, 4-13. The last quarter went well as the Thunder scored 6 points before the game ended with a 10-16 loss.

Madison Ward, eighth grade said, “We were aggressive and got many fouls. We scored some good points also.”

The third quarter began, and the Thunder team was trying to get back in the game. However, they could not catch up with the Tigers as the quarter ended with a score of 10-18. The final quarter concluded 15-22  for a Thunder loss.

It was a tough night for the Thunder teams. Although the girls were disappointed with how it ended, they learned a lot which will help them along the way.  Overall, the girls fought hard and are not going to let this loss stop them.
