The Nemaha Central elementary and middle school students were excited for another pep rally but this time for girls basketball and boys wrestling. The pep rally was held on Monday, November 18, 2024, and it was to introduce the current athletic seasons and highlight the past sports' accomplishments.
Dr. Amy Beck opened the pep rally by introducing the NCMS cheerleaders: Khloe Crevier, Cora Langill, Claire Sourk, Karla Deters, Olivia Hermesch, Madison Ward, Brooklyn Korber, Payson Wise, and Payson Rottinghaus. Then, the cheerleaders pumped up the audience with the cheer “Fans over here.” Next, volleyball, football, and cross country coaches summarized their season accomplishments.
After the fall sports were recognized, the girls basketball team coached by Bethany Griffith, Jessie Macke, and head coach Darrin Hermesch, came down to be announced. Following the basketball introductions, the boys wrestling team was introduced. Andrew Beck and Mo Hilbert coach the wrestling team.
Next, the cheerleaders introduced the game that the athletes would be participating in. The game was called “yes or no” where students would stand on a line and jump in one direction if it was yes and the other direction if it was no. The winners were Tyson Beebe-Dishong, Olivia Hermesch, and Madison Ward. The pep rally ended with the “Victory” cheer and the spirit stick was given to the well-deserved winners, the second grade.
“My favorite part was the game and how it takes up time out of school,” said Grant Heinen, seventh grade.
“It was my first pep rally since I moved here a month ago,” said Avery Lee, second grade.
