The Nemaha Central Middle School volleyball girls played against their rivals the Sabetha Bluejays on Monday, October 7, 2024. Nemaha Central hosted these games at the high school gym.
The NC eighth grade B-team started off the game with a good rally in the first set and finished the set with a win, 25-16. In the second set, they did really well and won a close one with a score of 25-23. The set was exciting and intense at the same time. The Thunder kept up their level of play to also win the third set, 15-10.
“The crowd was cheering and they supported us and we fought hard and won,” stated Emma Tangeman.
The game began rather slowly for the eighth grade A-team and they ended up losing the first set, 20-25. The team was ready to roll in the second set and won 25-22. With momentum on their side, they came out victorious in the third set with a score of 15-9.
The seventh grade A-team played well and won their match after dropping the first set, 20-25. The Thunder girls came back and won their second set easily with a score of 25-12. The Thunder also won their final set with a score of 15-13 to get the match win.
Following the A-team match was the B-team. The seventh grade B-team girl’s first set was close, but the Thunder came up short losing 21-25. The second set was similar to the first set as the Thunder lost again, 22-25. In the last set, the Thunder team won a close one with a score of 15-13. The Thunder girls were excited to get a set win.
Brooklyn Korber said, “We tried our hardest and gave our best effort.”
Overall the NCMS volleyball team played really well and they won most of the matches against their closest rival, the Sabetha Bluejays.
