The Nemaha Central third graders were excited for their field trip to the Flint Hills Discovery Center on Thursday, October 10. The Flint Hills Discovery Center is located in Manhattan and provides many fun activities for participants.
At the Discovery Center, students attended a presentation to experience the Flint Hills through sight, sound, and innovative effects. They also explored many exhibits about the Flint Hills. Students also learned about the names of cow meat and where they were located by putting the parts of a cow puzzle together.
Other activities the students enjoyed were sitting on a horse saddle acting like a cowboy, looking at pictures of canyons, crafting pumpkins, and a ton more. They could also listen to a presenter with a snake. When she was done presenting, the students had a chance to touch the snake to see what it felt like.
“Playing on the playground at the Discovery Center was my favorite part of the field trip,” said Jayse Clear.
When they were done having fun at the Discovery Center, they stopped by the Blue Earth Plaza to eat lunch with the lights, music, and fireplace. When lunch was over, they boarded the bus and headed back towards Seneca. Along the way, they stopped at Frankfort City Park to play.
“Playing at the Frankfort Park was my favorite part,” said Blakey Holthaus.
Overall the field trip was a success and the third grade had a bunch of fun.
