The Nemaha Cental Middle School volleyball team played their last regular season game on Thursday, October 10, 2024. The Thunder played the Jefferson West Tigers at NC. The Thunder were thrilled to step onto their home court for one last time this season.
The Thunder's eighth grade B-team was excited to compete for the last time this season. They started their match with a solid win of 25-19. The girls tried hard in the second set but lost 19-25. In a challenging third set, the Thunder lost with a score of 17-19 but were glad to have played well against the Tigers.
“We tried our hardest but lost anyway,” said Zoey Streeter, eighth grade volleyball player.
The eighth grade A-team was ready for their last regular season match. The Thunder team lost their first set 20-25. They went out on the court ready for their next set but despite their efforts, they lost 17-25. In their last set, they still came up short losing 10-15.
The seventh grade A-team stepped on the court to play their last match before the tournament. Despite their efforts, the set ended close with a 20-25 score. In the second set, the Thunder struggled to get things going and lost 12-25. The third set was a tough loss for the Thunder as Jeff West rattled off 15 straight points without the Thunder scoring.
The seventh grade B-team stepped on the court ready to dominate the Tigers. They knew this would be their last game and they wanted to do well. The Thunder team lost the first set 16-25. Going into the second set, they knew they had to step it up if they were going to win. NC went out strong and won this set 25-18. In the last set, they won in a close set, 16-14.
“I'm happy that we were able to beat the Tigers and do well,” said Isabelle Rohlmeier, seventh grade volleyball player.
The girls will continue to practice hard before their league tournament. The eighth grade B-team ended the season with a record of 5-6. The seventh grade B-team finished the season with a 6-5 record.
