Students at Nemaha Central Middle School enjoyed a team building event on Thursday, January 9. The event was orchestrated by members of Greenbush. Students learned four different games that involved teamwork. The students were split up into four different groups. A few groups went into the classrooms and a few stayed in the gym. Before the students went their separate ways, they all played a game called Ships and Sailors. The game was like Simon Says, but involved a little more movement. The winner would be the person that followed the directions and did not get out of the game.
“It was fun and entertaining,” said Logan Kraisinger.
When the students split into their groups, they all started with a different game, but would end up playing all of the games. One of the games was to build a lego structure with instructions from your group members. You had 15 minutes to to build the structure and the directions were relayed through several people from the student seeing the design to the student building it.
Another game involved building a tower with pvc pipes. The object was to build the tallest tower, however your tallest group member couldn’t put the last piece on top of the tower. The third game was a hidden maze. You had to step on red mats in a certain pattern to make it to the other side. If you stepped on the wrong one you had to go to the end of the line and start over. Overall the students learned to work with others and had a great time.
“I had a fun time doing new activities that challenged me,” said Kylee Sperfslage.
