NCMS 7th Grade Playing Their Match

The Nemaha Central Middle School volleyball team traveled to Silver Lake on Thursday, September 19, 2024. The volleyball team has had great competition due to the league merger to form the Big East League.

The NC eighth grade B-team started the night with a battle against the Eagles.  The Thunder girls lost both sets but still played the best they could against Silver Lake. The score for the first set was 17-25 and the second set score was 18-25.

The eighth grade A-team match followed the B-team one. The NC girls started their match off slowly and could not recover to take an 11-25 loss. They played a little better in their second set but still lost with a score of 18-25.

“We fought hard to try to win against them but unfortunately we lost,” said eighth grader Evelyn Ba Coc.

The seventh grade A-team played three sets. The first set was close and the Thunder came out on top, 25-22. The second set went the other way and NC took a 20-25 loss. The third set was a battle back and forth but the Thunder team came up short with a score of 13-15.

Tatum Snyder, a seventh grader said, “Winning the first set was my favorite part.”

When the A-team match ended, the B-team headed onto the court. The first set’s score was 23-25, NC was so close but didn’t win. The second set was not as close as the Thunder lost with a score of 17-25.

Silver Lake was a very solid team and even though the Thunder lost, they know what they need to do to play better next time.
