The Nemaha Central Middle school volleyball team made the long trip to Perry Lecompton on Monday, September 23, 2024 to take on the Kaws. The teams were looking forward to picking up a few wins.
The NC eighth grade B-team had a slow start in the first set which resulted in an 8-25 loss. In the second set, they turned it around and won 25-12. The Thunder needed to win the third set and they did just that with a close score of 15-13. The Thunder team was really excited about winning the game after starting so slowly.
The eighth grade A-team was hoping to get another win on the road against the Kaws. The first set was a battle between the two teams, which resulted in a 21-25 loss. In the second set, NC struggled to get a rally going and lost 8-25. In the third set, the team tried to recover but lost 9-15.
Alyssa Griffith said, “We tried our best but Perry Lecompton was a good team.”
The NC seventh grade A-team’s first set went well as they won, 25-20. Working hard, they won the second set 25-11. The third set was another great win for the Thunder with a score of 15-9.
The first set of the seventh grade B-team was a close one, but they lost 20-25. In the second set, the NC girls won an exciting set 26-24. For the match win, the Thunder girls came up short losing a close one, 14-16. The NC team tried hard to win the game but it just wasn’t quite enough.
Ava Madrid said, “We tried our best and worked hard.”
Even though only two teams won, the girls are having fun and enjoying playing together.
