The Nemaha Valley Middle School volleyball team was excited for their second home game of the season on Monday, September 16, 2024. The team faced off against Hiawatha and had high hopes of getting a couple of wins.
The eighth grade B-team started the night off with an amazing win in the first set, 25-10. The second set was a little rough and Hiawatha ended up coming back at the end to get the win by two points, 23-25. The NC team didn’t give up as they won the third set with a close score of 15-9. The team had a few confidence boosters with a block from Alyssa Griffith and a kill from Olivia Hermesch!
Next, the eighth grade A-team approached the court. The first set was a little rough, resulting in a close loss for the Thunder with a score of 23-25. Hoping to grab the win, the team worked harder in the second set. Anna Jost served 14 in a row to assist with the 25-18 win. NC worked hard in the third set to secure their win with a score of 15-13.
Eighth grader, Evelyn Ba Coc stated, “We played very well against Hiawatha because we hustled and talked.”
For the seventh graders, the games went pretty well. The A-team won the first set 25-21 against Hiawatha. In the second set, the Thunder dominated with a win, 25-7. The third set was a close one, however, the Thunder came up a little short 13-15. The Thunder team still got the match win because they had already beaten Hiawatha in the first two sets.
The seventh-grade B team did great winning all three sets. The score of the first set was 25-9 and the second set was 25-13. The third set was a little closer, but the Thunder still came out on top, 15-10.
Seventh grader, Audrey Sudbeck, commented, “It was super fun because we worked very hard and we beat them!”
The NC team headed home cheerful and thrilled that they beat Hiawatha for another win in the books!
