It is pep rally time! The Nemaha Central Elementary and Middle School gym was filled with NC colors as the first pep rally of the season kicked off on Thursday, September 12, 2024. The whole school was invited to attend the pep rally ready for a great time.
Dr. Beck welcomed everyone to the first pep rally of the year and then introduced the cheerleaders. The cheer squad started the pep rally with the chant, “The Thunder are Here.” After the chant, the fall sports athletes were introduced. Coach Hadden Hiltgen had the football team come down and introduce themselves and state what position they play. The next sport up was volleyball. Coach Nikki Honeyman asked the girls to introduce themselves. Then Mrs. Jessica Koch asked all the cross country runners to come down and introduce themselves. After the introduction of fall teams, Mrs. Koch presented a trophy to last year’s seventh grade scholars’ bowl team and coaches for winning the final Big 7 League Scholars’ Bowl Tournament.
“I enjoy going out for fall sports and the pep rally motivated me to play better tonight,” said Emma Tangeman.
The students were excited for the next part of the pep rally, which was the game. The cheerleaders asked the fall sports teams to participate in the game. The cheerleaders set out three chairs with a solo cup on each chair and announced the rules for the game. Two athletes from each team faced off against each other. Instructions were given for the participants to either touch their head, shoulder, or knees, but when cup was said, they reached for the cup. The one who grabbed the cup was the winner and would face off against the next participant. The game continued until there was only one person from each team left. The winners were Logan Honeyman from volleyball, Ethan Jost from cross country, and Elvis Pop Cucul from football.
When the game ended, Dr. Beck came out with the spirit stick and the students went crazy. The cheerleaders started the traditional V-I-C-T-O-R-Y chant and each grade level took turns yelling it back to show their spirit. The winning class was the seventh grade. It was an amazing pep rally with a lot of Thunder spirit.
