NCMS Takes Third at the Big 7 League Wrestling Tournament

The Nemaha Central Middle School wrestlers had to travel to Holton for their Big 7 League Meet on Saturday, December 7. This meet was the longest, lasting around 5 hours. The wrestlers gave their best effort and placed third as a team. 

All 5 eighth graders from NCMS competed at this meet. John Langill won three matches and lost one putting him in third place. Miles Carpenter won two matches and lost one putting him in second place. Dalton Childress won three and lost one to receive third place. Abe Hilbert won two and lost two placing fourth. Holden Bass won both of his matches earning him first place. The eighth graders did very well at their first Big 7 League meet.

NCMS had 4 seventh graders competing. Luis Lambrecht had one win and 3 losses, so he didn’t place. Ayden New lost both of his matches. Peyton Ross won one and lost 2 putting him in second place. Abram Keim had two wins and one loss earning him  second place. Spencer Lockhart, Dayton Nelson, and Isaac Barrett did not wrestle at this meet. These seventh graders were really competitive and had a great meet.

“It was a good experience for the first year of wrestling. Next year I plan to make many more improvements,” said Luis Lambrecht.

Coach Schuyler Mayberry said, “It was good seeing all of the athletes improve and show a love for the sport. We did extremely well and were very competitive for it being our first year and having the numbers we did.”

The NCMS wrestlers really showed that they have improved from the beginning. They worked hard this season and they trained well to get better and it showed. They had an amazing first year. Congratulations to the NCMS wrestling team on their third-place finish.
