Nemaha Central’s Middle School Wrestling team went to Riverside on Tuesday, November 12. The wrestlers were separated into each one's respective weight class and given match numbers. Each wrestler had interesting matches, and they all worked very hard.
The seventh grade had seven athletes wrestling. Isaac Barrett won both of his matches earning him first place in his weight class. Luis Lambrecht won his only match to take first in his weight class. Dayton Nelson lost both of his matches placing last in his weight class. Ayden New had some tough matches going 0-3 in his weight class. Peyton Ross placed first after winning his only match in his weight class. Spencer Lockhart lost his only match getting him last. Abram Keim also won his only match to get first in his weight class.
“It was really good, but I think we could have done better,” said Ayden New.
The eighth-graders had five athletes wrestling at Riverside. John Langill and Miles Carpenter both went 2-0 and won their respective weight classes. Dalton Childress won 1 of his matches and lost 2, placing last in his weight class. Abe Hilbert won 1 match and lost 1 match. Holden Bass lost his only match getting him last in his weight class.
This meet was a great chance for the Thunder wrestlers to show off how much they have improved. All of the wrestlers did great and gained a lot of skills to help them in the future.
