The Nemaha Central Middle School cross country team traveled to Jackson Heights and competed in their last meet for the season on Tuesday, October 22. The other teams competing were Cornerstone, Jackson Heights, Doniphan West, Horton, and Riverside. The cross country runners from NCMS were Maddy Mosteller, Presley Lutz, Hailey Nordhus, Lane Mosteller, Joe Korber, John Langill, Kaden Peterson, and Will Nolte.
For the 8th grade girls, Hailey Nordhus came in 2nd place out of 4 runners, with a time of 15:27. Maddy Mosteller came in 1st with a time of 15:47 for the 7th grade girls, while Presley Lutz also had a good run and came in 5th place, with a time of 17:42. There were 8 athletes competing in the 7th grade girls division.
John Langill beat all middle school participants finishing in 1st place, with a time of 13:19 for the 8th grade boys. Joe Korber came in 11th place, with a time of 17:15. In the 8th grade boys race, there were 12 runners. For the 7th grade boys, Lane Mosteller finished strong in 1st place with a time of 13:51. Kaden Peterson followed in 2nd with a time of 14:22. Will Nolte came in 8th place, with a time of 22:37. The 7th grade boys had 9 runners in their division.
“It was a really fun race, and I had lots of fun competing against other competitors,” said John Langill.
“It was a tough course, but I thought our team did really well and a lot of us placed,” said Kaden Peterson.
The NCMS cross country team finished the season strong with many runners medaling. At this meet, they medaled the top five finishers in each division so NC had 6 runners earn medals. It was great to see all of the improvements made throughout the season.
