A Spooktacular Evening for Lyrics and Literacy Night

The excited fifth grade students could not wait until the night of Tuesday, October 15. It was their night to shine at the Nemaha Central Elementary “Lyrics and Literacy” night. The theme for their program this year was a “Spooktacular Evening.” The program was held in the NCEMS gymnasium.

To start off the night, Mrs. Chelsey Haverkamp, the music teacher, welcomed family and friends and talked about the songs the students would sing. The first song the fifth grade students performed was a song called “The Addams Family,” in spirit of the upcoming Halloween holiday. The students dressed in their Halloween costumes for the concert. The students performed very well and they were in sync as they sang the song. The students had a fun time performing this song!

“It was fun to dress up,” said Carson Edelman.

The second, and final song, the fifth graders sang was “A Nightmare Before Christmas Melody.” The parents smiled in the crowd as the fifth graders sang the melody. The students harmonized together and put on a great performance.

“I had fun and we got to sing Halloween songs,” said Rachel Nordhus.

After the students finished performing their songs, they led their parents to their classrooms to show them around and to present their projects to them. The students and parents laughed and smiled as they visited with one another.

The fifth graders put so much time and thought into the songs and it showed during the performance. The students had a blast dressing up and singing at their “Lyrics and Literacy” concert. Overall, the fifth grade students made the night memorable and set the stage for the upcoming Halloween holiday.
