The Nemaha Central Elementary School had a special visit from some of the Seneca Fire Department members on Tuesday, October 8. The students were so excited to see these men and ready to learn more about fire safety. These men are important to our community and deserve a lot of recognition and respect for their service. The firefighters love teaching students about their job and also giving them key safety information.
The firemen split up and went into various elementary classrooms to discuss fire safety. Some of the classrooms discussed practicing fire drills at home and how to be prepared for a fire. They also showed the gear that firemen use to keep them safe when putting out a fire and going into burning buildings. Other classrooms learned about making 9-1-1 calls and how to be safe when something dangerous is happening. Some of the students even got to practice a 9-1-1 call and that was super exciting. The Seneca Fire Department also brought an inflatable house for students to go through and learn how to get out of a house safely if it was on fire.
The Seneca Fire Department also gave gift bags to the students. Some students received water bottles, pencil pouches, pens, pencils, rulers, and coloring books.
The students were very respectful and they enjoyed learning about fire safety and what to do in case of an emergency. Thank you to the Seneca Fire Department for visiting our school.
