The fifth grade classes at Nemaha Central Elementary School went on a super fun field trip to the Henry Doorly Zoo on Wednesday, September 25. The famous zoo is located in Omaha, Nebraska. It was a beautiful day for a field trip and the weather was amazing.
The Thunder students had so much fun learning about the different habitats and ecosystems of some of the animals. The students saw the brand new African Plains exhibit. The students had a great experience learning about all of the habitats in Africa. The zoo really has been updating its exhibits and the students really enjoyed seeing them. The students were very well behaved and were very kind and respectful to the zoo keepers.
One highlight of the trip was a new baby monkey that was held by the zoo keepers that the students thought was so adorable! The students and teachers also enjoyed feeding the giraffe. Something that the students and teachers thought was really scary was feeding the sharks They had a lot of fun and in the end they didn’t find it scary anymore. They also ended up seeing stingrays and thought that was fascinating!
Paisley Roberts said, “I had so much fun and I loved seeing the baby monkey!”
Students had so much fun in their groups led by amazing parent volunteers and the parents did an excellent job being leaders. At lunchtime, students were able to purchase lunch or have the one they brought. After lunch, they walked around a while longer before they had to board the bus to head home.In conclusion, this field trip was very successful and all students, teachers, and parent volunteers made it back to NCEMS safely, but exhausted from the day’s events.
