Big 7 League Champs!

On Saturday, September 30th, our Lady Thunder volleyball teams played in the Big 7 League Volleyball Tournament for the last time before it changes to The Big East. 8th grade played at Sabetha while the 7th grade girls played at Riverside.

Our 8th grade volleyball team did great, winning every set. Taking first place was an easy challenge. They played hard and won the last-ever title of the Big 7 Volleyball Champs. The girls had a blast and made some amazing memories.

Clare Wullshleger said,  “At the beginning, it was looking a little tough but by the end, we managed to pull through and win it all.”

Our 7th grade volleyball team had a great attitude and beat our rivals, the Sabetha Bluejays. They came in 7th place overall. This group of girls worked hard and made a significant amount of progress this season. Great job coaching these girls, Coach Hill! There’s no doubt they can’t wait for next year.

Jayla Nolte spoke on behalf of the 7th grade team, “Just being part of the team, I feel like overall we have had a really great season. Speaking on the seventh-grade Volleyball team’s behalf, I think we started our season a little rocky, but we have improved greatly, learned to work hard, play hard, have trust in one another, and be there for each other when we need it most. I do think that the tournament went well and that the teams we played were tough. But next year, we will get up there, just like this year’s eighth-grade Big 7 League Champions!”

This was a great way to finish off the season, everyone made progress and grew with each other as a team. The volleyball team can’t wait for what next season has in store for them.

Coach Honeyman, 8th-grade head coach, shared the following about the season, “Every year the season goes by so quickly and this year wasn't any different.  I was so proud of all the 8th-grade teams and how they competed and grew as players. The B team finished the year 8-0-1 and the C team was 1-0-2.  I appreciate that these girls wanted to be pushed and challenged. They also pushed each other and it showed during the competition. The end-of-the-year league tournament was so gratifying.  The girls were tested during pool play but emerged as the #1 seed.  Then the girls took care of business and just crushed Royal Valley and Jeff West. It was amazing seeing all the support for the girls.  I will definitely miss this team and their fearless manager, Bella.”

Coach Hill, 7th grade head coach said, "I am so proud of this 7th grade team.  They have made tremendous progress from the beginning of the season to the end and worked so hard every single day!  I can't wait to see what they will do next year!"
