1st graders shopping at the AR Store

As the school year winds down, the Nemaha Central students in first through fifth grade cashed in their Accelerated Reader points on Friday, May 12.

The students in first through third grade were able to participate in buying items from the AR Store for the points they earned from reading books. The way that students could increase their spending amount before going to the AR Store was by reading books and taking short tests called AR tests. This event happens twice every school year and is something that the students look forward to. The fourth and fifth graders on the other hand traveled to the Seneca Theater to watch a movie. The movie they watched was  Flubber.

From first to third grade there is always something for every student to purchase at the AR store. There are a large variety of choices that range from candy to large toys that students can purchase with the AR points they have earned over the semester. In all, they had a great experience using the AR points that they earned over the semester.

The group that puts this on is the Parent Teacher Organization, which raises money to reward students through various programs.
