Mrs. Cole's first grade class

The first grade at Nemaha Central Elementary School went on a field trip to a buffalo farm in Westmoreland and to the Wamego City Park. Ms. Carla Meyer and Mrs. Hannah Cole’s classes went on Wednesday, May 3, and Mrs. Brooke Burdiek’s class went on Thursday, May 4.

The classes that went together on Wednesday split up, one went to the buffalo farm and the other went to the park. At the buffalo farm, they rode on a trailer that was pulled by a tractor. They got to pet and feed the buffalo. The first graders also got to try some buffalo jerky.

Cole Buessing said, “I  liked the part where I got to feed the buffalo because they would run to eat the treats.”

Bryce Baker said, “Throwing the feed to the buffalo was my favorite part, but I didn’t like it when their tongue touched my hand.”

At the park, they ate lunch and played on the playground.  After they got done at the park, they headed back to the school. At the end of the day, they were exhausted and glad to be home.

Norah Anderson said, “My favorite thing at the park was the teeter-totter.”
