6th grade class.

The Nemaha Central 6th grade class went on a field trip to Snow Creek, just outside of the town Weston, on Thursday, February 23. The teachers that attended were Mrs. Carly Hill, Mrs. Bailey Holthaus, Mrs. Bethany Griffith, and Mr. Jake Reitz.

The morning of the field trip the students loaded up on the bus with their winter clothes ready for their adventure to come. Once they arrived at Snow Creek, they signed in, picked out their boots for their skis or snowboard, and proceeded to get the rest of their equipment.

The Snow Creek staff helped the students through the course before they could go out on their own. The students learned skills like how to turn, how to stop, and how to get back up if you fall down.  The students also learned how to get up the hills in the chairlift or by using the rope tow.

Tate Edelman said, “It was scary being that high up in the chairlift.”

At Snow Creek, they have 60 snow-making machines that can make snow if temperatures stay under 32 degrees. Snow Creek has 12 hills all different in difficulty, some are really easy and some more difficult. Within the 12 hills they have 5 lifts to help the students get to the top.

Olivia Hermesh said, “I really liked getting ran over by Mrs. Griffith on skis. I wish we could go on that field trip every year.”

Later in the day, around 5, the students were tired and ready to go home. They returned their skis and snowboards to the staff and loaded up the bus and headed home after their fun adventure at Snow Creek.
