7th grade outside the dome

The Nemaha Central Elementary and Middle School had a presentation in the gym that was sponsored by the Parent Teacher Organization on Wednesday, February 15.  The program involved students from transitional kindergarten through eighth grade. The presentation involved a massive skydome that took up almost ⅓ of the gym. The dome had a tunnel snaking out which was the way you entered. You had to crouch down practically on your knees to enter the dome.

Once in the dome, the students had the feeling that they were in space. The students viewed all of the planets in the solar system. The instructor told the students some facts about the planets, like the size of planets, how many moons they have, and how far away they are from the sun. Students also viewed Pluto and many constellations. They also got to see more planets and stars that are outside the solar system.

Kendra Schmitz said, “It was very interesting, and I loved seeing what was beyond Earth.”

We would like to thank the Parent Teacher Organization for sponsoring the presentation on the skydome planetarium allowing the students to have a cool space experience. The students loved learning about planets, stars, and moons in our solar system.

Karoline Koch said, “It was really fun.”
